Did you know that vacation packages are one of the best travel deals? You can get low prices by combining your trip components like flights and hotels. Here are a few ways you can save while booking your vacation.

  • Travel during the off-peak season

Check into the off-season for your vacation destination. It is likely that you may get lower fares and enjoy the added perk of not fighting the crowds in airports or popular attractions when you get to your vacation spot.

  • Avoid major holidays

Holiday travel is always in high demand, but prices usually drop when the demand does, so if you have to travel during a holiday, consider departures before or after the major wave coming and going. Also, purchase holiday airfares far in advance to get the best travel deal.

  • Save by booking an overnight stay over a Saturday

Many hotels and airlines offer weekend discounts so you will find big savings if you include a Saturday night stay on your vacation. You can save thousands of dollars this way.

  • Best airfares are on a midweek departure

Selection of Flight

If you want to get the lowest available airfare, think about booking your departure day on a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You will find a better selection of flights. Also, you might be able to save money by considering flights that stop en route to other destinations. And don’t be overly nifty by booking across different airlines to save money as many things can go wrong, e.g. lost luggage.

  • Book at least 60 days in advance

Most of the time, the early birds get the best travel deals. You want to book your vacation package about 60 days or more before you travel, but don’t book too early either.

  • Book best travel deals when you find them

When you see a good travel deal, don’t wait, but be quick to grab it as soon as possible before the deals go away.  Travel inventory changes constantly for both airlines and hotel so a good deal might not be available if you spend too much time.

  • Be flexible and save

When booking a vacation package, you will find the best travel deals if you can be flexible with your travel dates. Check the days (or weeks, if possible) before and after your first choice of vacation days. Oftentimes, a small tweak on your travel dates can save you a surprising amount of money.

  • Book your trip online with trusted travel sites

online booking

Try to purchase online tickets during special promotions of travel sites.  You can save your money when you book your flight and hotel together. Their deals may vary, but you often find savings as high as 30% to 40%.

How to avoid possible mishaps?

We have enough explained vacation packages now it’s the time to discuss travel mishaps. You can avoid some, but others are just part of the traveling experience.

  • Make a list

About a week or so before each trip, brainstorm the plan by making a list of the essentials and write them down.

  • Learn common phrases in the local language

A simple “Please,” “Thank You”, and “Sorry” in the local language goes a long way. And it also shows the locals that you are interested in their culture! To learn some common phrases and don’t be afraid to use them with friendly locals.

  • Don’t forget an extra camera battery

Extra battery for camera

Have you ever gotten to that epic sunset photo spot and realized your camera battery is dead, and you don’t have a backup? Try to bring at least three camera batteries on all of your trips so that you don’t miss out on any perfect shot.

  • Make photocopies of important documents

What happens if you lose your passport along your journey? Do not panic! It is very important to make photocopies of your important documents so that you have a backup.

  • Pre-plan your outfits

If you’re lazy, last-minute packer, then plan your outfit before packing. Otherwise, you will end up with blacks, grays and whites in every picture – not the most instagrammable!

  • Separate your money stash

Don’t put all of your cash and cards in one spot. Hide some cash and back up credit/debit cards in different bags.

  • Inform someone at home of your plans

This is extremely important when traveling solo, but it’s still a good idea no matter how many people are in your travel group.

You simply can’t plan for everything. However, keeping a few important things in mind will make your travel much easier.

It’s a big, beautiful, exciting, and fascinating world out there. Explore some of it now, rather than later!
